Decided to stop being cheap - nin10doh.com is no longer hosted out of a horribly unstable VM on my home computer. Biggest side effect of this change is that TEC's uptime should be a lot more consistent now. Not a huge change, but I thought it worth sharing. Within the next few hours, everyone should be seeing the site on the new server. The old server has a warning message added to make it clear which one you are looking at.
Data loss :(
A server crash last night caused a small amount of data loss in the users table. I've been able to recreate most of the users records by hand using data I had lying around, but there is a good chance that I have missed a few people. Please let me know if your stats are gone! Affected users are likely limited only to a portion of the users online around midnight CST last night. For those affected, you will have to recreate your password through TEC (/msg TEC @setpassword) before you will be able to log onto the website. I've credited each affected account with 2000 bonus points for the inconvenience as well as to hopefully offset rank progress lost due to the rollback. The data I'm using to recreate the records is mostly from 10/29-10/30.
Rank system updates
I've updated the ranking system on the site somewhat. Gone are the days of being stuck at a rank because you don't talk enough - there are no longer any restrictions. Additionally, messages are weighted much, much higher in the ranking formula than they were previously. Everyone's rank has likely changed, most for the better unless you were an extreme idler. Additionally, a few new ranks have been added to support the changes because the new formula moved people above the top of the old system.
Website and TEC are back after a 3-month hiatus. Sorry about that. They were previously hosted on one of ChatSpike's servers that had a catastrophic hardware failure back in early February. After that got resolved, I lost the ability to host anything off of that. Finally tired of not having this functional, it's now being hosted out of my home for the time being. It won't be perfectly stable, but it's more than we've had.
News post comments!
News posts on the website now support comments! The interface might still look a little rough, especially on any skin besides Default... but that's Mario's problem, not mine. :)
